Predict That Future

Well, the month of March is upon us. And soon, April will be here. With GSN's track record over the past few years, they usually make changes, whether it be adding adding new shows, or switching episodes, they do stuff. So, why not make predictions just for fun?

Here are mine with each show. Keep note these are only my predictions.

• Match Game - Will keep the same 1975-1977 episodes. 

• Blockbusters - Will end up leaving. My guess it will be replaced with Jim Perry's Card Sharks with the last set of 1981 shows.
• Press Your Luck - Will get a different set of episodes. My guess, more 1984 shows.

• $ale of the Century - Will get a different set of Syndie shows, from where they left off

• Super Password - Will get a different set of episodes, from where they left off.
• Password Plus - Will get a different set, somewhere from the Ludden run.

Well, these are my predictions. What are yours?

Returns and Acquisitions - What's Happening to GSN next

Well, GSN used to be very predictable, when a show would lose a spot for Harvey Feud. The next set of changes at GSN, well, are very unexpected, but are very...well, if you like older shows, you're in heaven, or something like that. These changes start December 2nd.

First, Blockbusters with Bill Cullen returns to the network after nearly 5 years of being nowhere on the network. The episode start is #312, so it looks like the last 60 episodes of the run. This replaces the 9:00am episode of Super Password. Convy and crew still have the 11:00am slot for now.

Second, it's not a show change, but a switch of episodes. The 1985-1986 episodes of $ale of the Century will air at 10:00am continuing from the Black Friday marathon. The 1988-1989 episodes disappear. So this means different music package, endgame, and Jay Stewart are around now.

Then, the most interesting change is at 4:00pm. Shop Til you Drop with Pat Finn (don't know which run, I'm assuming it's the 2000 PAX run, I mean GSN did air one of those shows a few years ago). The episodes will repeat the next weekday at 12:00pm. (so what airs Tuesday at 4:00pm will air Wednesday at 12:00pm). The shows get the full hour.

Well, this is very interesting. I do prefer Shop Til You Drop over Supermarket Sweep by far, so I can live with that. I'll watch (or record). I hope it lasts awhile.

Very glad to see Blockbusters with Bill Cullen return to the network. This is one of my favorite Game Shows. I would always watch it on weekend mornings. Also good to see a Bill Cullen show on the network. I will definetley be watching (or recording) this for sure. Hope it fares well in the ratings.

As for Syndicated $ale gaining a spot on the regular schedule. Yes I'm happy.

GSN Daytime Changes Next Week

Well, I've been on a long vacation, that should've ended 2 days ago :) Well anyway, next week GSN is revamping its daytime schedule.

8:00am - Match Game 75 (1975-1977 Episodes)

8:30am - Match Game 75 (1975-1977 Episodes)

9:00am - Press Your Luck (1983-1984 Episodes)

9:30am - Sale of the Century (1988-1989 Episodes)

11:00am - Super Password (1986-1987 Episodes)

and for Weekends, we get the 1981-1982 episodes of Password Plus with Tom Kennedy.

Well, I for one am excited for these changes. Very excited to finally see some more Match Game 75 and more Press Your Luck. Not extremely excited for the final season of Password Plus but it does have Tom Kennedy which hasn't been seen forever. More Super Password episodes are always welcome.

As for Sale Of the Century all I can say is wow, I thought this show would never set foot on the schedule.  Well, good thing I didn't necessarily bet my life, otherwise I'd be in huge trouble. It's a decent show, and I will enjoy it. I mean Jim Perry is an excellent host, so it's gonna be good. Starts Monday April 1st.

Yeah, we give up Dawson Feud and Card Sharks but oh well. They'll probably be back. This is the first time Dawson Feud has not been on the GSN lineup.

And, We Change....AGAIN

Well, GSN is changing the schedule yet again, and daytime looks to be getting some changes.Let's look at them, shall we.

At 8:00am, Match Game departs and Richard Dawson's Family Feud moves in. There's your first error. His version of Feud has proven it cannot start of the day. Remember 2 years ago when Dawson's version couldn't crack 100K on a regular basis. It does currently at 9:00am, but that's because he's got Gene as a lead-in. This will hurt whatever is at 8:30am, which is still Match Game 74. 


At 9:00am is Password Plus. Looks to me like the show is failing at 10:00am, and they're giving it a throwaway slot. And with a potential week 9:00am hour, yep, this show's gonna fail :( I also wonder if they will run the episodes they have now 7 days a week considering the fact the show got added to Weekends. Meaning if they air an episode Friday, meaning the next episode will air Saturday. Hm.

As for the next change, The $100,000 Pyramid will air at 10:00am. Well, here's the first good part I see. Good addition, whether it be 1985-1986, or even 1987-1988 (Which they're airing), good move.

And Chain Reaction will air at 11:30am. Yeah, GSN's version. I think Match Game should've been left there.

And for Noon, we've got Jeopardy!. Hm, that's interesting, Alex always seems to show up in that spot.

Even More Changes

Well, with Dancing With the Stars premiering tonight, there are more changes to the schedule, beginning this next week, in addition to the changes announced last month.

Match Game loses its 11:00am slot. Eubanks Card Sharks will rejoin the daytime lineup and take over that spot. That will begin at episode #1 from January 1986. Match Game 74 will remain at 11:30, and will still air in the 8:00am hour. Seems odd having Perry at 10:00am, Pyramid at 10:30am, then Eubanks at 11:00am. Seems weird but oh well. Would much rather see Match Game for the 468th time, but at least this will shut up the people on the message boards who complain about rerun abuse. Yeah, I'm sure you'll be happier to see the shows gone.

And another changes happens. Syndicated Deal or No Deal bites the dust. Repalcing it? The Bill Engvall version of Lingo. And same with Card Sharks, Engvall at 2:30pm, Whammy! at 3:00pm, and Woolery at 3:30pm. Seems weird, but it might work. That's just Monday-Thursday. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader will still get the Friday afternoon slot. This is a good change. I really hate the Syndie version of the show, only 2 models (and there were hotter ones IMHO), half the prize (yes it was Syndication) and just felt too rushed. I don't like it slow, but if you go too fast, it ruins it. And the gimmicks on the NBC version didn't bother me, in fact, I liked them. I love the NBC version, but the Syndie wasn't that great. It even had suckish ratings. Engvall should do much better.

A Lot of Crap

Well, I have had better days for sure. This one I found out first. GSN is changing it's schedule in January. Starting January 23rd First, the ever popular Saturday night winners, Karn and O'Hurley on Family Feud will get Monday nights, with Karn at 7:00pm-9:30pm, and O'Hurley at 9:30pm-12:00am. OK. Tuesdays-Thursdays. Fridays,

Will now feature Karn Feud at 2:00pm, 3 hours of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader 3:00pm. I can live with that. Then after that, I'm changing the channel. At 6:00pm-4:00am, is Dancing with the Stars. Yeah, I will not be watching. I absolutely hate this show with a passion, and now they're running it to hell. Freakin wow. On Saturday nights, it airs again from 6:00pm-4:00am. Yay, I no longer have to worry about Saturday night TV. At least last years Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! is on. Sometimes I hang with friends, so I don't have to worry if I'm DVRing something. Hey, I'll be dancing when the show premieres.

And it takes over 1:00pm-6:00pm on Sundays. Flashback Fridays are gone, which is now The $100,000 Pyramid for 5 hours.

Moving On to Something Different

Well, Million Dollar Mondays just haven't worked out. So their gone. Apparently there are a lot of changes. Mondays will now be GSN original marathons.

Also the Flashback Friday block is gone. Instead on those Friday nights, beginning December 23rd is The $100,000 Pyramid from 7:00pm-12:00am, at least til January 20th. So The $25,000 Pyramid is dead, almost.

GSN usually likes to make changes to its schedule, especially in January. Here are the changes

High Stakes Poker gains..... It's eviction at 3:00am. Replacing it? Well it doesn't sy but I assume it will be Catch-21 and Woolery Lingo. No surprise there.

That was seen from 30 miles away. But here's one I never saw coming. Chain Reaction dies. Yes, it's gone. Over the summer I watched it a little bit, and came to like it a little bit. But I never really got thy change of heart like I did with Karn Feud. Woolery Lingo replaces its 3:30pm slot (all 7 days). If you are sad to see Todd sign off on weekend mornings waiting until the afternoon to see him again, Whammy! goes to weekends at 10:00am

Well, one that we knew could happen, The $25,000 Pyramid leaves (except for Friday nights, and that might not last so I consider it a goner). Replacing it The $100,000 Pyramid at 10:30am, and Jeopardy! at 2:00am. Um hooray!?!?! I don't mind seeing 100K in daytime (in fact I like it better), but I'll miss 25K, especially if it is a winner for Friday nights. Then again, Chain Reaction is also gone. I don't mind Jeopardy!, but I'd rather have another 1/2 hour of Dick Clark.

Dancing With the Stars doesn't mean the demise of older shows. Maybe on Friday nights, but not totally.

Also looks like the Weekend Feud marathons are not happening. Of course that Feud change could be the marathon. I don't think so though. I wonder what Sunday brings us. Hopefully the Million Dollar latenight block on Sundays remain. We'll find out tomorrow.

Million Dollar Monday Ending and Other Worries

I was looking on the Directv guide, and it rolled over to November 21st and spotted The Newlywed Game for 5 hours on Monday night. Then later I looked over to Tuesday the 22nd and saw Baggage. The Wednesday nights are also Baggage. It appears Million Dollar Mondays are over. I'd like to be wrong. Who Wants To Be a Millionaire bombed back in September, and lasted two weeks. Looks like Regis' Monday night slot also lasted 2 weeks. Oh well, it obviously bombed, along with the other shows in that block.

Makes me wonder about Flashback Fridays. I think the Monday and Friday things were a 2 week deal. I might be jumping the gun, but who knows. I think we should wait and see, but doesn't surprise me. Amy Introcaso-Davis is now at GSN, and at Oxygen she increased original programming by 83%. Maybe she's doing that now.

UPDATE: Flashback Fridays Appear to survive according to Directv. Tomorrow we find out if Million Dollar Mondays survive.

Sorry, I've been busy, with school starting and the sudden death of a friend of mine, it's been busy, except doing online picks of the week. But here I am with more stuff. GSN is doing some changes with its schedule. Here they are

Things Change

That argument seems to be continuing at the forums.

And if you look at past numbers, classics did well on weekends too. From the link classics on Saturday averaged 304K. All four of them.

Here are the numbers of those older shows in the morning

9:00am - Match Game SYN - 206K
9:30am - Password Plus - 350K
10:00am - Super Password - 325K
10:30am - Family Feud (Dawson) - 335K

I guess those were good numbers, but that overall was a pretty good week of ratings.

Douglas continued to post ratings over the summer of 2009, and they (the older shows) began to go down a little bit. He posted the last weeks in August 2009. Then in November 2009, all the old shows were eliminated from weekends, and he began to post again in January 2010, and has posted a lot since then (except from January 2011-April 2011) Obviously since August 2009-November 2009, the older shows obviously bombed in ratings, which is why they were replaced. I was sad to see Password Plus leave in November 2009, but it obviously had a good run, then dwindled.

Older shows now get a good number once in a while, but they're not that great. The novelty is obviously wearing off. Time to move on.

GSN Schedule Worries

Well, with the new schedule changes happening today, I've been beginning to worry about some things. Here is what I wrote:

As I said earlier, I'm very excited for this schedule, and will enjoy it.

But, I don't see it lasting long. Why?!? Here's why:

Recently ratings have been sucking. Those bombs that made it suck are almost gone. However, shows like Engvall Lingo and Sherri's Newlywed Game have done rather well, even by recent standards. Engvall's Lingo has produced some good ratings. What does that mean? R-E-N-E-W. It's probably gonna get a second season, whether you like it or not, it's probably gonna happen. They'll tape Engvall's second season. Where to put it? In Primetime, probably to replace Regis. Regis will probably replace the Pyramid hour. They'd probably give it an afternoon showing or rerun his first season, so Whammy! would be cut back to weekends, or moved to daytime, meaning, an older show would be the sacrificial lamb. Hey, I expect Sherri to get another season. That has to go somewhere too. This change is probably a temporary thing until they're ready to debut new seasons of high-rated originals.

Another thing. I'm worried Regis might not do very well. Face it, the show is 10 years old. Most viewers think older=bad. It got 435K on that marathon. But, because it's on everynight, it could bomb. And as I said, Engvall will probably be back.

Also, the older shows are losing some appeal, (new episodes probably wouldn't help). I remeber watching Match Game last September and thinking "Dayum, this show is REALLY old. They're just losing appeal. I'd expect them gone pretty soon. Hey, maybe Whammy! And Who Wants To Be a Millionaire will turn up in the morning when new episodes of the originals arrive.

Well, you have to expect with a post like this, you'll receive criticism. Here is what a few posters said:

They have figured out that those high-cost originals haven't been delivering, for the most part...think Drew, Wendy, and Poker, in particular. I would expect to see classics airing from 8-2, and a shakeup in late night. I would be willing to bet that Password will return in some form in the next 6-12 months. We might even see MGPM at some point, since we know they more than likely have the rights to air it. That leaves plenty of time for the newer shows in the evenings, where they belong. Given that they've had three shows debut and BOMB in the last year or so, they may want to cut their losses and pick up some newer acquisitions, like Harvey Feud.

This is what I have been saying to you for months. Why do you think MG is "losing appeal" ? You see the same ep's over and over. Twice a day. Yes, it becomes "oh , yeah...funny. Saw that"....or " I just saw this a few weeks ago ( when it was actually months)." But as far as losing appeal, the ratings for MG a few months ago...not September....were pretty darn good . 300 plus 11 AM for a bit. That isn't losing appeal. BTW, old show 25K Pyramid certainly hasn't lost viewers. Just the opposite, in fact.

One thing I don't get with you. Over and over, you keep posting "be glad you get MG, stop complaining about the same ep's..."But now, you are saying you think MG has lost its appeal since "LAST SEPT..". That is sort of contradictory.....please explain.

To try and back my theory up, I posted some hourly averages. The daytime ratings have not been doing too well. Maybe that was a bad week, who knows.

I'll Take GSN Schedule Changes for $1,000 Alex

Just got back from camping for a week. Good times. Now to this thing which is new to me. Seems as if July was a barren month for schedule changes. So we're due for another one. Right? Correct. Apparently having started today, Match Game is gone off the weekend schedule at 9am. Oh well, it was early 75 so it's not a big loss. Taking its place. Engvall Lingo, Improv, Tattletales? Nope. Jeopardy! will take its place. Nice, even if it is the 2005-2006 season, who cares? If you enjoy Jeopardy! than tune in Weekend mornings.

Baggage gets 5:30pm replacing Inaba. Syndie Deal or No Deal gets 6:00pm.

Also Karn Feud will air at 8:00pm and O'Hurley at 9:00pm on Saturdays. Almost out Improv.

And Deal or No Deal gets weekdays at 5:00pm. Interesting. I like these changes.

And.......You're Almost Out

GSN finally realizes that Improv-A-Ganza and Love Disast.... I mean Love Triangle are screwing up Primetime. Things change June 27

The new winner Bill Engvall and Lingo gets a full hour at 8:00pm, taking it to a rediciolus 6-a-day. Carrie Ann Inaba's 1 vs. 100 gets 9:00pm replacing Wendy. Improv gets 12:00am, giving it a double-run. I Love the show, but the ratings are awful, so I don't see this lasting long. Gee I wish Pyramid was back in latenight
