Here's a board conversation in response to GSN's recent acquisition of Dancing With the Stars

It is very sad to have to see this in pure black and white now. I never would post inaccurate/false information. I'm sorry everyone didn't see this coming or believe me a month back. All I can say is, Friday Night Classics better do well!!!
I never believed, and I still don't believe your theory.
Dancing With the Stars doesn't mean the demise of older shows. Maybe on Friday nights, but not totally.
GSN Word of Wisdom No. 12
12) A game show, by its dictionary defintion, is “a television program on which contestants compete for prizes in a game or a quiz.”*By fulfilling this definition, ALL competitive reality shows are game shows, whether you like them or not. On the other hand, Love Connection*is not (its citation in The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows*notwithstanding).
Another poster, commented on Buzzerblog's post:
DWTS has competition (important element of most game shows) to win a prize (another important element of most game shows). It even takes place in a conventional studio setting. DWTS is much more of a game show
It does fall under the Game Show Category. Like it or not.

When these schedule shake-ups happen, I think we'll be more accurately be able to tell whether gloom and doom is on its way or not
Agreed
