Steve and GSN

Well, last night I saw the Family Feud on GSN with Steve Harvey. I just have to say thank you to GSN for airing this. I've only been able to see a few episodes of Steve's tenure (especially last season). I saw many cool things like the Belt family. That one guy after winning fast money just ran behind the board, and well, it was funny. I especially liked the part where the family is snapping their belts and Steve was like "You just shut up, I have had it. We're trying to play the Feud here." Ah Steve. Yeah there were a couple references to the male organ, but other than that, the show was pretty clean. Well, GSN, you did well on this. Thank you for making my Wednesday night great. Well, looking forward to Password Plus and Super Password on Monday. I'm excited.

Clawed Their Way to the Stars

In days where Dubstep, Foster the People, and Katy Perry are popular, well, I have to think. Hey, it's good dancing music. But I usually like to sit down and listen to music, not dance. One of my favorite listening bands is The Chameleons. Definetley one of my favorite UK bands (next to Muse), These guts are amazing. I give lots of laud to the Australlian band The Church and they are amazing. These guys are pretty legit too. With Mark Burgess on Bass, Dave Fielding and Reg Smithies on Guitars, and John Lever on drums, (I'll give credit to Alistair Lewthwaite for keyboard), their first album Script of the Bridge was pretty awesome. My personal favorite As High As You Can Go was featured in that album. Check my online picks to hear them, the original, and a live recording of them on Generation 80. Another favorite album is Why Call it Anything? Which featured stuff like Swamp Thing, Music in the Womb, Lufthansa, Miracles and Wonders and more. Love this band a lot. They don't perform much anymore, but they're still great to listen to.

The Reality of the Matter

Well, when something good happens, an opposite reaction happens. GSN just announced its big plans for 2012. Well, let's start with the good news. Looks like GSN is trying to revive The $100,000 Pyramid. Well, that's good, and The Newlywed Game has been revived for another season. And they're trying a new cooking show called Beat the Chefs.

However, looks like GSN is trying reality shows again. Yes, we all know how much those worked for GSN. Hope that wasn't too sarcastic. Here is a list of shows they are trying. Pure Gold, I Do Now I Don't, The Family Trade, The War of the Rose Sisters, Crowning Glory.

Yeah, all those sound like fun (yeah, sarcasm). Come on GSN, your network does best with Traditional Game Shows. Reality just doesn't work for you. Oh well, good luck, you'll need it on this one.

The Password is..... Bittersweet

Well, GSN is making a few daytime changes. Well, as expected, something is leaving. Both versions of Card Sharks are departing, and leaving. Replacing Perry's Card Sharks is Password Plus. Most likely Allen Ludden's era. Well, this looks interesting, and that's a decent replacement. The $100,000 Pyramid as expected by many is leaving. Replacing it is The $25,000 Pyramid. Well, that's unexpected, at least some version of Pyramid is sticking around. Eubanks is also getting the shaft as well. Replacing it is Super Password. Yep. So, basically, Password Plus airs at 10:00am, and 2:30am, The $25,000 Pyramid airs at 10:30am and 3:00am, and Super Password will air at 11:00am, and 3:30am.

Well, as for Card Sharks leaving, good riddance Eubanks, but for Perry, it's like saying goodbye to a very good friend who is moving a couple states away from you. It might turn up on the schedule again in the future. Odd seeing The $100,000 Pyramid disappear, but I do enjoy The $25,000 Pyramid almost just as much. I am absolutely thrilled to hear the return of Password Plus. I am stoked. It's looks like it will be 1979 episodes. Super Password is a welcome addition as well (I prefer Password Plus much more), and it will be starting at November 1985, with Gary Burghoff and Jamie Farr. That was a good week. I look forward to these changes.

Also, next week Chain Reaction with Dylan Lane will turn up weekdays at 3:30pm replacing Lingo, and Fridays go back to Monday-Thursdays (with exception of Pyramid at 7:00pm-12:00am). I look forward to these, and along with Harvey Feud, this is looking great, for now.

Online Pick of the Week (3/18) - Somebody That I Used to Know

Whenever I see something cool, I add it to my favorites. This one caught my eye though. I didn't mind this song, but this cover beats it by a longshot. Probably because there are 5 people playing 1 guitar. This is pretty awesome. Love that guy on the end just playing the harmonics. I'd grow a beard just to do that. Hey maybe I'd be able to be famous for that (yeah right, keep dreaming). Definetley a situation where a cover is better than the original.

My Opinions

I have opinions. And to me those are the most important. Other people have opinions, and that's OK. Some I do disagree with, and some I do agree with. When it comes to Family Feud, they vary. Here's a convesation from the boards:

A poster: Why anyone would want to see episodes from last year this soon is beyond me.

I love Harvey's era. I never got to see many episodes last year because I was in school. This gives me a chance to see these episodes. I'm also sure the average viewer would love to see these.

Same Poster: A sad anniversary for sure because the Combs version is my favorite

Yeah, 2 years since they stopped showing Match Game PM. Personally I don't care for Combs, so that would be a happy anniversary for me.

Same Poster: And yes GSN can't get enough of post-2002 Feud

It does well for them. Steve will definitely help ratings out A LOT. You don't have to watch.

Of course, some law states you get an oppostie reaction, here it is:

You weren't missing much, the producers started dumbing down the questions so contestants would say dirty answers and Steve could act foolish. And this season they really made an effort to include at least 1 sex joke or relationship question in each show for said desired result.

With shows like Baggage, Love Triangle, and R-Rated versions of the Newlywed Game and Lingo, I'm sure Family Feud with dumbed down questions and a host that can act like a bafoon will fit right in on GSN. I guess sex does sell. I won't watch though.

Hey, I like Steve's version, yeah it could lower down on the sex jokes, but Steve does a good job.
