Scheduling History

Most times they change some things up in April. In fact, because I can, here's what they've done in regards to the oldies in April.

2009: Shows such as Child's Play, Blockbusters, Press Your Luck, Card Sharks (Both Perry and Eubanks) To Tell The Truth (O'Hurley and Collyer), & What's My Line? are removed from the schedule. In addition to Sony shows such asPyramid with Dick Clark and Hollywood Squares, Match Game PM, Dawson Nighttime Feud, and original recipe Passwordare added to what other versions of those shows are already there. Oddly enough, Let's Make a Deal stayed but was removed in June 2009. 

2010: Match Game (PM and SYN), Family Feud (Dawson SYN and Combs) and Password are removed from the schedule. Match Game goes from 1978 to 1974, Dawson Feud goes from 1983 to 1980, and 200 episodes of Perry and Eubanks Card Sharks are added to the schedule.

2011: Nothing happens. In April they were focusing on the originals. 2 of which bombed. 1 of those still has a weekend slot?!?!

2012: Both Eubanks and Perry Card Sharks leave the schedule. Password Plus and Super Password are added. 

October 2012: Jim Perry's Card Sharks and Press Your Luck are added to the schedule. Both Password revivals remain on the schedule as well. Usually things like this hadn't happened in October.

2013: New leases on Match Game, Press Your Luck, Password Plus and Super Password and $ale of the Century added to the schedule.

December 2013: New $ale of the Century lease and Blockbusters with Bill Cullen added. 

So who knows what's going to happen. It could be another 2011 where nothing happens.

Chuck's Back

Well, looks like GSN is changing a part of the schedule again. Jeopardy! once again disappears from the schedule. And they haven't finished out the season yet. Oh well, some things I still would've liked to see, but oh well, life moves on.

It's replacement is something that is not on the schedule at the moment. Chuck Woolery's Lingo. According to the PDF schedules, it will be Season 5, with Chuck and Shandi.

Well, I enjoy Lingo but the Chuck and Shandi seasons weren't my favorites. They were OK, but I don't know, it just doesn't click with me. I just don't know. I didn't mind Stacey Hayes that much, but I personally think Lingo is best with just one host. I do prefer the Bill Engvall version over Chuck and Shandi, but of course, you can't beat Chuck solo, during his first two seasons. I'm sure 2003 episodes will turn up again soon. Might take a long time, but they'll be back, and I'll be watching. So Starting Monday February 25th at 11:30am, Woolery Lingo replaces Jeopardy!

Out With the Old, and In with the New, Another GSN Experiment

GSN has done a whole bunch of schedule shakeups. For example, this week Harvey Feud gains 2 hours in latenights, replacing Karn, Engvall, Jeopardy!, and Password Plus. And Baggage replaces The $25,000 Pyramid and Super Password in latenights. And now, on September 21, Baggage also will replace Match Game and the Richard Dawson Family Feud.

I am going to support this change. Time is moving on. Older shows (especially game shows) are no longer appealing to people, except a select few. I mean, on GSN, there getting awful numbers, and they are putrid compared to big stuff such as American Bible Challenge which pulls almost 1 million viewers each week, or The Pyramid. Looks like GSN has had it. Seeing how Match Game pulls around 100,000 viewers each week, and Dawson has just about 75,000 each week. Looks very wimpy compared to those stuff. Hey I enjoy both Match Game and Dawson's Feud, but no one else, except the die-hard fans do (not that there's 100,000 of them). GSN figures Baggage could do better numbers. If all else fails, there's always Harvey.

I truly enjoy older shows, as well as modern. But as time progresses, those shows only get older. Match Game is turning 40 in July. Sorry, they just don't work.

Out With the Old, and In With The New

Well, for this next week (and possibly beyond), GSN will be airing Donnymid at 10:30am and 3:00am replacing The $25,000 Pyramid. They say it should last only a week, but I highly doubt it. I personally think $25K is a goner. Sorry, I think that's what the NEW meant on the PDF's. Well, we'll just see what happens. It's a good exchange for me. I love Donnymid and he was a good host. I also liked the 6/20 format. The only thing that pissed me off was the judging. Really, Bike is not good enough for bicycle? Give me a break. Well, I'm excited. And also apparently $25K is on Friday nights still, but for how long? We'll just wait and see. I doubt it's a placeholder for a different season of $25K.

Everyone, DANCE OFF!!!

GSN just made an acquisition. Recent Wheel of Fortune? Harvey Family Feud? Nope. Dancing With the Stars. A few GSN board notes.

I have a feeling those weeknight blocks (Million Dollar Mondays, Flashback Fridays, etc.) will be done by the time 2012 comes around. They're probably doing this just as a filler until they pick up something to fill those slots,
Had a feeling they were temporary, and Dancing With the Stars will probably receive a nice Primetime slot. Of course they're fillers.

and I have a feeling DWTS is likely a show GSN will do well with.
Oh, it probably will, it's widely popular.

How long will it be til an espiode is shown on gsn for a 2nd time? maybe 4 hours cause you know they'll repeat it to death

Oh, like with Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and Deal or No Deal, DWTS will start with humble beginnings, 2 a day, then eventually expand and be all over the schedule. So yeah, it's gonna be "Rerun Abused"

I still don't have much interest in going back and watching old reruns.
I don't like the show period.

I would've loved to see Harvey Feud, or Wheel of Fortune, but this is probably gonna be good for ratings.

Aaaaaaaaaaand complaints that GSN will get several season of a talent competition but rerun the same season of Classics in 3...2...1......
I don't complain, I just long to see something else. But the seasons of DWTS have 11-15 episodes each, so there's about 100 episodes. Match Game's curren lease has 400. Perry's Card Sharks has about double that lease.

Holiday Treat

I sometimes have to dispel rumors. To those who think GSN is becoming a huge pile of crap, need to look at what's going on. On December 12, at 3:00am ET, What's My Line? followed by I've Got A Secret at least for that week. I think you know what to expect. Last years episodes? Wrong.

You Get a Promotion

Hey all. Today I got a day off from school today. So I watched some GSN, and saw some promos. One that stood out to me. Promotion for the upcoming Primetime blocks. On Mondays it's Million Dollar Monday. Tuesday get hitched with Sherri and The Newlywed Game. On Wednesdays get a date with Jerry Springer and Baggage. On Thursday's make a deal with Howie and Deal or No Deal. On Fridays we flashback to retro game shows. I saw clips for Eubanks Card Sharks, Dawson Feud, Match Game and The $25,000 Pyramid. Haven't seen an older game show promoted since 2009. Hope this experiment works for them.

Too Old For Primetime

As of this last Monday, Regis' Who Wants To Be a Millionaire was removed from the primetime lineup. In all honesty the ratings weren't that great. Engvall did so much better there. It was nice to see something different for a change of pace, but in reality, the remainder of the GSN audience didn't. Oh well, maybe Engvall could do the numbers again there right? No. The not-so-better Deal or No Deal that followed Regis at 9:00pm gets the 8:00pm slot. Why I didn't agree with this. Didn't we just get out of that Howie multiple times a day era on GSN? I guess not. It was nice just having a 2-3 a day. 4 is way too much. His numbers weren't that great either. Sherri did better in that slot. While it was nice to see some non Originals in primetime, it just doesn't work. Those people who love the dirty raunchy stuff and care about people's sex lives are the hugest audiences for the network. The ratings showed it. Of course, Karn's primetime episodes are from 2003-2004 which is pretty old, but newer episodes of Feud do real well for GSN. Oh well, hope they give it more weekend exposure in the place of poker. Yeah the demos are amazing, but the ratings stink. Time for it to go. Good thing it's out of prime time.

Arnold's Modern Life

According to Entertainment weekly, The 90's are All That Block on Teen Nick will shaken up a little bit. Kenan and Kel and All That remain on the lineup, but Doug and Clarissa Explains it All leave. I really enjoyed Doug and it was nice to see that again. However Clarissa Explains it All, that show was awful. Sorry but it was just dumb, although she did have the looks.

Replacing them, Hey Arnold, and Rocko's Modern Life. I've never seen Rocko's Modern Life, but I'll give it a shot. Seeing Hey Arnold back makes me happy, I remember watching it while I was young. Although the 90's block isn't a ratings winner.

August 29th GSN Schedule Changes

Well, last time I went camping for a week earlier this month and Jeopardy! returns to GSN. I go to that same place for a few days and see another good change. This schedule change is full of things I thought would never happen. Here they are

2:30pm - 1 vs. 100 (Inaba) (Replaces Chain Reaction)
3:00pm - Whammy! (Replaces Engvall Lingo)
3:30pm - Chain Reaction (Replaces 1 vs. 100)
6:00pm - Lingo (Engvall) (Replaces Baggage)
6:30pm - Baggage (Replaces Newlywed Game)
7:00pm - The Newlywed Game (Replaces Love Triangle)
8:00pm - Who Wants To Be a Millionaire (Replaces Engvall Lingo)
9:00pm - Deal or No Deal (Replaces Newlywed Game)
11:00pm - The Newlywed Game (Replaces Engvall Lingo)
11:30pm - Baggage (Replaces Improv-A-Ganza)
2:00am - The $25,000 Pyramid (Replaces Engvall Lingo)
2:30pm - The $100,000 Pyramid (Replaces Improv-A-Ganza)


My thoughts;

• Interesting to see Engvall get cutback to 1-a-day. Also interesting to see Sherri out of primetime.
• Improv getting cut is no surprise. Baggage getting a 4-a-day is interesting too.
• Whammy! Back in afternoons is a pleasant surprise.
• Regis in Primetime is Awesome!!! Unexpected buy great. Howie is in Primetime too. Primetime seems perfect!
• Pyramid in Latenights is also good. Didn't expect to see it again, especially the hour. Nice!!

Maybe weekends will get some changes.

The PDF's were updated. $100,000 Pyramid will start at episode #399, which aired in October 1987.

O'Hurley will air Saturdays at 4:00pm instead of Sherriwed. Love Triangle remains

Half as Much

Hello all. Today is my younger brother's birthday. Happy Birthday Abe!

But in all seriousness, there is a schedule change. Improv-A-Ganza leaves Saturday afternoons at 2:00pm. In its place is Syndicated Deal or No Deal. That's it. No other changes. Never cared for it much, but it could be good to see again. Starts Saturday July 23.

More Sherri

Nothing but a small schedule change taking place later today. 1 vs. 100 (Inaba) is out of primetime. Taking its place is The Newlywed Game. Well, it beats Love Trainwreck, I mean Love Triangle. Inaba wasn't the best, but who knows, this could get Primetime back up to date on ratings to a January/February basis.

Time to report my first schedule change. Starts on Monday. Here they are

3:00pm - Lingo (Engvall) (Starts Tuesday)
3:30pm - 1 vs. 100 (Inaba)
5:30pm - Family Feud (Karn) (Monday June 6 Only) Lingo (Engvall) (Starts Tuesday)

Not bad changes. Older Woolery Lingo beats it in afternoons. The Shandi and Chuck episodes stay at noon. $25,000 Pyramid is no longer in Latenights. Oh well. It's still on the schedule. Oh well. Engvall gets 5 times a day.

As for weekends. Engvall Lingo gets Saturdays at 7:00pm and Sundays at 10:00pm. Improv gets 2 hours on Saturday night at 8:00pm-10:00pm. That last part sounds bad. Good luck GSN. You'll need it.
