Just learned of the death of a friend. I met Dakota earlier this month an he was a cool dude. Unfortatley he had a stroke this last weekend and died yesterday. I have a link for this week. People in Georgia where he came from released 250 red balloons. In response to that, here's Nena's 99 Luftballons. R.I.P. Dakota.

Online Pick Of the Week (9/18) - Happy Days
Once again to dispel any myths that any TV show made before 2003 is instantly shot down and instantly hated by me. So here is an oldie, and a goodie. Happy Days. Ah yes, a great show, with many different places in Milwaukee Wisconsin where this classic is set. This episode could've been a huge turning point (there was another set in the series that was eliminated later in this season, that could be an online pick later on.) Inspiration Point, where The Fonz spends some time with his many chicks, is in danger of being removed from Milwaukee. Well, that contractor is probably well hated amongst the viewers right? If Howard Cunningham was hated on that show, it would be the point. He was the developer, and many young people (even old) try to save it. See what happens. Is Inspiration Point Dead? Will Howard be the most hated man in town? Find out by watching. Happy Days, They're Closing Inspiration Point, My Online Pick of the Week

Online Pick Of The Week (9/11) - Family Feud (Karn)
Okay, okay, I understand many classic viewers hate Karn. Yes he does well in ratings and was a great host, but that's not the point. On this last Sunday, it was the 10th anniversary of a very tragic day in American History. The bombing of the Twin Towers in New York. It was an evil terrorist plot. Because of this evil act, many people's lives were in danger. The firefighters, policemen, and many others risked their lives to save many innocent people. Unfortunately some of innocent people died, and some of those firefighters died as well. It was a very selfless act of them to do, so we could enjoy American freedoms. I personally thank them for sacrifice for many people. I continue to salute those men, and will remember those who were lost that fateful September morning. In tribute for those brave men, here is a Family Feud heroes special with the New York and Atlanta Fire Departments from the 2005-2006 (Karn's last season) A very good episode, and a very good 9-11 tribute uploaded by a fellow Youtube user. Family Feud (Karn) Heroes, my Online Pick of the week.
Last Week's Online Pick of The Week (9/4): Almost With You
I've been busy recently, and I finally have some time to blog, so I'll catch myself up to date on these Online Picks of the Week. Well, here we go, I guess....
*Deep Breath*
I'm a big fan of the Australian rock band, The Church. I'm not a very big fan of their pre-1983 stuff, but there were a couple of good songs from that era such as Too Fast For You. Well this one is another one that was released early in 1982 titled Almost With You. This is one of my favorite things. This video is a little higher (pitch-wise) than the original, which is fine with me. It's a good song from their 1982 album The Blurred Crusade. The band realeased a video of their early work, and this one made it in a different music video (I think, I'll check later), and made it onto the album Hindsight. Overall good song with a great guitar solo in the middle. They've played this one live several times, and has been sung on several of Steve Kilbey's tours. As I said good song. Enjoy. Almost With You my Online Pick of the Week for September 4th, 2011

Too Old For Primetime
As of this last Monday, Regis' Who Wants To Be a Millionaire was removed from the primetime lineup. In all honesty the ratings weren't that great. Engvall did so much better there. It was nice to see something different for a change of pace, but in reality, the remainder of the GSN audience didn't. Oh well, maybe Engvall could do the numbers again there right? No. The not-so-better Deal or No Deal that followed Regis at 9:00pm gets the 8:00pm slot. Why I didn't agree with this. Didn't we just get out of that Howie multiple times a day era on GSN? I guess not. It was nice just having a 2-3 a day. 4 is way too much. His numbers weren't that great either. Sherri did better in that slot. While it was nice to see some non Originals in primetime, it just doesn't work. Those people who love the dirty raunchy stuff and care about people's sex lives are the hugest audiences for the network. The ratings showed it. Of course, Karn's primetime episodes are from 2003-2004 which is pretty old, but newer episodes of Feud do real well for GSN. Oh well, hope they give it more weekend exposure in the place of poker. Yeah the demos are amazing, but the ratings stink. Time for it to go. Good thing it's out of prime time.
Build-A-Schedule Edition #1
Well, I just thought of something that would be a good schedule of balance, and would generate good ratings, and it proves I don't hate older shows

3:00am - Card Sharks (Eubanks)
3:30am - Card Sharks (Perry)
Well, I added Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy! to daytime, to an hour that's far away from the access hour. I kept Karn at 9:30am, that would boost Wheel and Jeopardy!. I also added Super Password I put a Pyramid hour at 11:00am (I remember Casey once suggesting that a long time ago). For afternoons I added shows such as Password Plus, Dawson Feud and Card Sharks. That could do OK in early afternoons. I put Woolery back in afternoons, that could boost Whammy's ratings. For primetime I went to the pre-August 29th version of the schedule which did very well numbers. As for latenights, I added Wheel. That could boost latenights. As for Inaba, it's lost its appeal, it's time for it to go. As for Alfonso, he does well on weekends.
As for Saturday Nights
11:00pm - Who Wants To Be a Millionaire
12:00am - Deal or No Deal
1:00am - 1 vs. 100 (Saget)

Hub Schedule Changes for Fall 2011
Unlike GSN, The Hub airs older programming on their weeknight primetime schedule. Oh well, here are they changes
8:00pm - Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader
8:30pm - Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader
9:00pm - The Wonder Years
9:30pm - Family Ties
10:00pm - Happy Days
10:30pm - Laverne and Shirley
11:00pm - Doogie Howser M.D.
Oh well, I enjoyed the Happy Days hour. Oh well, 1 episode ain't bad, except Richie and Ralph episodes aren't airing. At least weekends (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays) get a double run, so we outta see the early episodes, with a younger cast, especially Erin Moran. I never really liked 5th grader though.

Goodebye
Yeah, I might've mispelled the titled, but some recent news came up. Kelly Goode, Vice President of GSN is stepping down. Here is the article. Personally, I have mixed feelings. As sad as I was that many older shows got kicked off, they needed a break to switch over to some modern stuff. Don't know if we'll see anything return anytime soon. She had a few successful shows like The Newlywed Game, Baggage, and Lingo with Bill Engvall. She had several bombs though like Hidden Agenda, Instant Recall, Carnie Wilson Unstapled, Improv-A-Ganza others. I enjoyed Improv, and Recall, but Unstapled, How did that even make it to the air. I still question that. Oh well, it was a decent run.
