Online Pick of the Week (4/8) - Second Chance, 1977 Game Show Episode

Well, this last week, one upload rarity (no it's not High Rollers 74) but the next best thing is an episode of the erased and short lived Second Chance with Jim Peck. This show is what Press Your Luck was based off of. This is pretty cool, considering the fact these are super rare to come by. Well, it's not mine (I can't upload yet, still learning), well, enjoy.

An Awkward Ending

Well, I just watched an episode of Happy Days on my DVR. Yes I love this show. But the one episode Wish Upon a Star just left me with a big dumbfounded look. Maybe she said yes? Nah, but back to the subject, yeah, a big dumbfounded look. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Well, if you want the rundown, of the episode. Richie wins a date to his homecoming dance with Hollywood starlet Cindy Shea (Cheryl Ladd). Well he gets pictures taken with her and all that stuff, gets to dance with her, get her a drink, and escort her to her hotel room. Well, it appears she might be making advances at him. Well, her manager walks into the hotel room, and reveals to him that he is her husband. I don't know why, but after that, I felt awkward after that scene. I don't know if I'll view the episode again, but oh well. Richie's reaction is well, I think that's it for the subject.

Harvey does Swell, But Only That

 Well, another set of GSN ratings has been updated. Hey, it's Steve Harvey's first week on GSN. Well, he got 5 slots in the top ten. His highest, 390,000 viewers. The top show was a Sunday Night 5th Grader airing and that was 401,000 viewers. Well, he did well, but the ratings are sinking in quicksand. Maybe the block scheduling isn't working out too well.

Monday Feud - 261K
Newlywed Tuesday - 225K
Harvey Wednesday - 326K
Deal Thursday - 173K
Pyramid Friday - 231K.

Wow, Howie took a huge fall on Thursday nights. Don't know what that was about, but it happened. Newlyweds are slipping a little bit. Hate the show, but that's bad for GSN (the ratings).

Other notes to point out on the schedule, Karn at 4:00pm does well with 258K for that hour. It's been better, and that's the best hour out there. Chain Reaction's return to the lineup averaged 204K. Not the best, but it could've been much worse. The new afternoon spot for 5th Grader  averaged 240K. Perry's Card Sharks exits with a 215K average, while Eubanks leaves with a pathetic 172K. Yeah, he doesn't work in daytime, and Bert Convy with Super Password will end up working a lot better. Still daytime could use some changes (episode wise)  And why GSN is keeping Dancing With the Stars is probably to be getting their money's worth, gee that show is stinking.

And also, O'Hurley will take over the 4:00pm-6:00pm Sunday slots here in the next couple weeks.

New Square

Well, MTV2 is getting into the Game Show business with their new show, Hip Hop Squares. Well, Peter Rosenberg is the host. Well, it will feature MTV2 like stars doing the zingers.

However, this does look like absoulute trash. Here is what one poster said

Yeah, THIS show has a lot of potential...

That was from someone on the GSN board. Yeah, I can see the show being like that. Debuts May 22 at 11:00pm ET on MTV2. Don't know if it's worth giving a shot.

Well, I watched GSN this morning. Well, I was on Spring Break too, but this morning I watched 2 of my favorite shows that returned. Well, first I watched my favorite, the premiere of Password Plus from January 1979 with Elizabeth Montgomery and Robert Foxworth. I recorded it back in 2009, but it was good to see it again. I love that show, and Allen Ludden is boss. Good to see that again. Can't wait to see the show go farther into 1979. Did you miss seeing the premiere, it will be on again at 2:30am.

I also caught Super Password from 1985 with Gary Burghoff and Jamie Farr. I love Gary's comment, Don't You Ever Age? Wow, comparing him on say, Match Game 74 and that episode, Gary aged pretty much. It was cool to see that again. Oh and Rich Jeffries was announcing. Fun to see the Magic Toaster. Oh wait you missed that too? You can see that episode again at 3:30am. again. GSN, thank you.

Well, it's April Fools day. I hate you all. April Fools. For the pick this week, it's a TPIR showcase from 1975. It might even the be the first time the show did something like this and it's funny, and it's also funnier watching the great Johnny Olson trying to keep it together. Enjoy

My Huge Dream

I am a huge dreamer folks, so I will explain to you my ackward weird dream. It has always been my dream to appear on the non-game show but something I think should deserve the blessed title of game show, Love Connection. I just loved that show, and was devestated when GSN gave it only 4 weeks of air time. It has been my dream to appear on that show. I always wanted the audience to choose me a mystery girl, and then tell how that date with. I thought I would've been an excellent fit for the show, although the 1 thing that bothers me is Chuck Woolery was hosting. It's awful. He sucks. And that Roddy announcer ain't that great either. But other than that, that is my dream to appear on this show. Looked very fun, and would be a well good way to spend my time. I dream about it every other night. And GSN, bring this show back please.
