My Tribute to Grandpa #2

As another tribute to my Great Grandfather, here is his 2nd favorite game show, The Price is Right with Bob Barker. By the time Carey started, he pretty much lost interest in the show. Not due to Barker's behavoir, just due to, he didn't want to watch it. But he loved it in the 80's as well. Here is a 1983 episode.

To the man who beat me in a mercy fight (where you interlock fingers and try to bend the others back) in September, to the guy who still lifted weights, and a cool 97 year old, I bid farewell, and will miss you in 2012. R.I.P. Sorry I can't attend your funeral tomorrow, but I'm glad I visited you when it mattered most.

My Tribute to Grandpa #1

My Great Grandfather Lawrence Lemmon passed away this morning at the age of 97. That is a picture of him at a Museum in Idaho. I got to see him over Labor Day Weekend.

He rarely watched TV, but he did have a few favorite shows. His favorite Game Show was Wheel of Fortune  in his honor, here is a 1986 episode.

I also take great comfort he is with family who passed on. His wife Lillie and his Son Gene, who died within a year of each other in the late 90's.

A Lot of Crap

Well, I have had better days for sure. This one I found out first. GSN is changing it's schedule in January. Starting January 23rd First, the ever popular Saturday night winners, Karn and O'Hurley on Family Feud will get Monday nights, with Karn at 7:00pm-9:30pm, and O'Hurley at 9:30pm-12:00am. OK. Tuesdays-Thursdays. Fridays,

Will now feature Karn Feud at 2:00pm, 3 hours of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader 3:00pm. I can live with that. Then after that, I'm changing the channel. At 6:00pm-4:00am, is Dancing with the Stars. Yeah, I will not be watching. I absolutely hate this show with a passion, and now they're running it to hell. Freakin wow. On Saturday nights, it airs again from 6:00pm-4:00am. Yay, I no longer have to worry about Saturday night TV. At least last years Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! is on. Sometimes I hang with friends, so I don't have to worry if I'm DVRing something. Hey, I'll be dancing when the show premieres.

And it takes over 1:00pm-6:00pm on Sundays. Flashback Fridays are gone, which is now The $100,000 Pyramid for 5 hours.

After Christmas Pick

Here's a special 1984 episode of The Price is Right from Christmastime. This features something funny that happened, but what. This was also Johnny Olson's last Christmas.

Enjoy. BTW, I didn't upload this.

Online Pick of the Week (12/24) - Christmas Card Sharks

I have 2 episodes of Christmas Card Sharks for my online pick. The first episode is a Rafferty Christmas episode from December 1986. The episode features 10 Santa Clauses

The second one is an episode from Christmas 1978 (Which probably will be seen on GSN), which features a funny contestant Jorge from the Christmas 1978. He's hilarious. I love him. I enjoy seeing his run on Christmastime. Love him.

Moving On to Something Different

Well, Million Dollar Mondays just haven't worked out. So their gone. Apparently there are a lot of changes. Mondays will now be GSN original marathons.

All times 7:00pm-12:00am

Monday December 19th, Lingo (Engvall)
Monday December 26th, Chain Reacton
Monday January 2nd, Whammy!
Monday January 9th, Lingo (Woolery)
Monday January 16th, Catch-21

Also the Flashback Friday block is gone. Instead on those Friday nights, beginning December 23rd is The $100,000 Pyramid from 7:00pm-12:00am, at least til January 20th. So The $25,000 Pyramid is dead, almost.

Online Pick of the Week (12/18) - Family Feud Dawson Christmas

It's Christmas time, and I have a busy schedule, so my pick is a Christmas 1977 episode of Family Feud with Richard Dawson. Jones vs. Moya, almost aired every Christmas on GSN, but they only cover 1980-1981. They'll be airing Christmas 1980 episodes this week.

Online Pick of the Week (12/11) - The Price is Right, 1982

Today is Bob Barker's birthday. While he is probably one of the biggest jerks out there in the world, he was one awesome Game Show Host. This episode comes from November 1982 (and features the models in Christmas outfits), and features 2 moments. One contestant has an interesting Come on Down, and another one, can't keep anything in her mouth :)

Happy birthday Bob. The Price is Right, My Online Pick of the Week

A Huge Loss

This week, we lost an entertainment legend.

Harry Morgan, known for Dragnet and Colonel Potter on M*A*S*H passed away on Wednseday at the age of 96.

I've probably best known him for M*A*S*H which he played Colonel Sherman Potter from 1975-1983. I was just watching a few episodes. A personal favorite episode is his debut as Colonel Potter. Radar was attempting to get a tan, and Potter pulls up in the Jeep and keeps honking his horn. Radar says "Stick That Horn in Your Ear." He reveals to Radar that he's Colonel Potter who was to arrive to take over for Major Frank Burns (Larry Linville), who took over for Colonel Henry Blake (McLean Stevenson). Another favorite is A Night at Rosie's, where everyone goes to the bar, and even Potter himself.

Another favorite episode was the Season 3 premiere. He played the role of General Bartford Hamilton Steele (3 e's not all in a row!). It was interesting seeing both M*A*S*H colonels together. One of my favorites.

A Change Reaction

Comments from a GSN board conversation:

A poster:
But probably for just 3 more months.
You are just eagerly awaiting for the Pyramid series to disappear. Well, if you don't like it, that's OK, different strokes for different folks

Has anybody given thought that they might put 25K on a daily weeknight slot once DWTS debuts? Doubt it, but hey, they gave older shows a Friday night block. And they might pick up a different season of both versions. It's not out of the question.

Oh, and Buzzerblog confirmed Alfosno and Chuck replace poker.

Another poster:
Is that what they're showing now?
Yes. They're showing the 1987-1988 season. Fans of The $100,000 Pyramid might not have seen it for a while. It will be good for that show.

Poster #3
As far as Pyramid at 10:30 AM goes, I have to ask... who cares if it's 25k or 100k? IT'S THE SAME SHOW! Same host, same set, same everything. Plus, 100k hasn't been beaten into the ground yet the same way 25k has. I mean, is someone going to tune in at 10:30 and say "Where did 25,000 Pyramid go? I love that show! Well, I can't watch this. It's 100,000 Pyramid! I hate that show!"?
I agree. The normal morning viewer won't notice a huge difference.

Same Poster as above:
However, I agree with everyone that the Pyramid hour should have remained at at 2 am, with Jeopardy at 1:30.

I agree

I'll take Shows that are disappearing for $600 - "Things a GSN boardie would say"

GSN usually likes to make changes to its schedule, especially in January. Here are the changes

High Stakes Poker gains..... It's eviction at 3:00am. Replacing it? Well it doesn't sy but I assume it will be Catch-21 and Woolery Lingo. No surprise there.

That was seen from 30 miles away. But here's one I never saw coming. Chain Reaction dies. Yes, it's gone. Over the summer I watched it a little bit, and came to like it a little bit. But I never really got thy change of heart like I did with Karn Feud. Woolery Lingo replaces its 3:30pm slot (all 7 days). If you are sad to see Todd sign off on weekend mornings waiting until the afternoon to see him again, Whammy! goes to weekends at 10:00am

Well, one that we knew could happen, The $25,000 Pyramid leaves (except for Friday nights, and that might not last so I consider it a goner). Replacing it The $100,000 Pyramid at 10:30am, and Jeopardy! at 2:00am. Um hooray!?!?! I don't mind seeing 100K in daytime (in fact I like it better), but I'll miss 25K, especially if it is a winner for Friday nights. Then again, Chain Reaction is also gone. I don't mind Jeopardy!, but I'd rather have another 1/2 hour of Dick Clark.
